Reviews – Ebichu, the Housekeeping Hamster
www.sacramentoanime.com

I had absolutely no idea what to think as I copied this series to my hard drive from borrowed CD-Rs. I started to watch them later that night- and boy, did I get a shock. If you know nothing of this series, from the title you may assume that it is another cute children’s series like Hamtaro. For the love of God and all that is Holy- do not let your children watch this! Ebichu is funny as all hell, but so dirty that it made even me flinch in places.

Obviously, Ebichu is a hamster. She does laundry, dishes, dusting, and other such things.  Her owner is a 25-year-old Office Lady, who is referred to simply as OL. OL has a very untrustworthy boyfriend who cheats on her all time. However this does not stop the two from having wild animal-like sex…  that you get to watch in rather graphic detail.

Ebichu watches all this and seems to think that most of it is normal, though she is completely unable to keep her little hamster mouth shut- most of how OL finds out about her boyfriend’s cheating is from Ebichu shooting off her mouth.  Ebichu, once again being that she is only a hamster, also has no discretion in answering the phone either- Anyone who calls gets the lowdown on OL’s sex life, and if it is a dirty call, Ebichu stupidly answers all question truthfully.  Dirty call example: “What are you wearing right now?” Ebichu responds “ Only my apron.”  “Are you clean-shaven?”  “Nope, I am very furry all over!” You get the general idea.

This series is incredibly graphic, and has absolutely no plot what-so-ever. At the same time it’s so funny and sick that you almost can’t help but watch it. Ebichu is 14 episodes long, each episode is only about 10 to 12 minutes (I never timed them- I just know they are half episodes) It has not been licensed for distribution and can be acquired as digi-fansub, downloadable from KaZaA or like programs.
